GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
HONGKONG. 16th. July, 1918.
I have the honour to inform you that in
December last the General Managers of the China Light and Power Company approached the Government with a view to acquiring a new site for their generating station in Kowloon
the main object being to obtain a water frontage in order to
obviate the cost of transporting coal over a considerable
distance.
2.
I enclose a copy of the terms which have
been accepted by the Company and if you approve of an ex- -change of land being effected on these terms I should be obliged if you would inform me by telegraph.
3.
I may add that the present site of the generating station which adjoins the Railway Yard would in course of time seriously interfere with Railway developments, so that the proposed exchange of sites will be mutually advantageous to the Company and to the Government,
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble servant,
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
WALTER LONG, M.P.,
